Sometimes as an artist you get a vision in your mind that just screams to be executed. In my musical mind, it’s often a song. It nags at you and pokes and prods until you’re fixated and you cannot ignore it any longer. This styled outdoor boudoir shoot in Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve was this project for me.
I had been wanting to explore the world of outdoor boudoir photography for some time because it is so romantic and beautiful and organic, yet refined…so much of what I strive for as an artist. The connection between raw emotions and natural spaces is all the more powerful when we’re “vulnerable” and exposed. The rawness of it takes my breath away. It’s almost spiritual for me…witnessing the beauty of a woman’s physique balanced with God’s great landscapes and beaming sunset light. And the light was oh so heavenly this summer solstice evening.
This was my first styled shoot (styled outdoor boudoir shoot) – meaning I purchased all the apparel and accessories, to coordinate with the locations I had chosen out, and then made the magic happen. So often my execution falls short of my vision (I probably shouldn’t admit that, haha). Well, not this time. This time my composition and performance came together to sing a song full of whimsy and romantic wonder, just like I heard it in my mind. I hope you can hear it too…
