What a pleasure this romantic, autumn engagement photography session was!

Lexie and Jake got married in an intimate civil ceremony a couple of years ago. And after enduring a long military deployment and then emotional homecoming, they were eager to plan their big wedding party. And so excited for their engagement session with me!

What amazed me was not only how gorgeous autumn is in North County San Diego, but also the ease with which these two fell into their intimacy. Every couple tells me they are “awkward” in front of the camera. Trust me, I know it is no easy place to be! Why do you think I prefer to hide behind it? haha. These two were no exception. I just told them not to worry about posing for me – just to focus on each other. To wrap their hands around each other and wrap themselves up in their love. 

Once we got started, these two were not awkward in the slightest! Quite the opposite, actually – so natural around each other and so comfortable with each other’s bodies!

Standing there with Lexie and Jake I could really feel the way they longed for each other. Their magnetism with which their lips drew closer. The ease of Lexie’s laugh as Jake buried his face in her neck. The enduring power of their union.  And I could not be more excited – both for them and for myself  – because the love they have for each other really came through in these images, and because I cannot wait to capture more of their magic on their wedding day!
