San Diego Wedding and elopement photographer Marie Monforte captures a bride and groom sitting on the edge of a Catamaran pulled up onto the sands of Pacific Beach for their San Diego Microwedding, which took place in the middle of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.

What’s a microwedding, anyways?

Are you struggling with the idea of an elopement because you think your parents (or besties) might be heartbroken? But you know you don’t want all the pomp and circumstance of a large wedding? If so, a Microwedding might strike a nice balance for you. A Microwedding is a small wedding with only your very closest family and friends (not more than 40 people) which still has many elements of a regular wedding. As a San Diego microwedding photographer I really appreciate the heart-centered focus of this type of smaller affair. It allows me to tell your wedding story with even more intimacy.

Sam + Connor’s San Diego Microwedding

Sam and Connor planned their San Diego Microwedding as a response to the Coronavirus pandemic. They knew they wanted a relaxed and simplified vibe to reflect their down-to-earth personalities. Witnessing them get ready together, just the two of them in their Pacific Beach home, I knew they made the best decision. The tenderness of moments like Connor zipping up Sam’s dress and Sam helping Connor with his suit really made it so special. Something that just feels so right about a couple helping each other get ready to take their walk down the aisle together. Our no-fuss bride, Sam, even arranged a couple simple blooms for her own bouquet – lovingly wrapped in a handkerchief embroidered in honor of her Grandfather.

For their ceremony Sam + Connor chose a nearby waterside spot within a 10 minute walk, so we grabbed sweet couple’s portraits along the way! Easy peasy, no fuss, and super relaxed. At the Ceremony site they set up a laptop to Livestream for friends and family afar! Then, after some group portraits, the entire group simply walked just a few houses up the road to a rented Air BnB to enjoy an intimate Chef-prepared sushi dinner and reception. Sam + Connor’s microwedding was low-key, relaxed, full of heart, with great company and delicious food – everything they wanted for their heart-centered wedding day.
