Most people have come to know me for my nature-y, rustic locations. Or maybe even my scenic North County beach sessions? But when this adorable bride reached out with an idea of doing something a little different for her engagement session. I jumped at the chance to take them to downtown Escondido, get some yummy Gelato, and just explore a cute, more urban, setting for a change!
Clare + Mathew are getting married in a civil ceremony later this month, yay!! They are also in escrow on their first house together!
So although plans are in the works for a more elaborate reception down the road, they wanted to make sure to commemorate this special time in their lives. They knew they needed to get some cute engagement photos of the two of them together. Enter me.
They swore to me they have “zero” cute photos of themselves together because they are “super awkward” in front of the camera. HA – they *all* say that! And obviously, this couldn’t be further from the truth! I mean, look how adorable these two are together!
So I’ll let you all in on a little secret. As I told Clare + Mathew during our session, the key to great photos is *not* knowing how to pose, or knowing which angles flatter your body or face. The best way to get great photos is to let loose, relax, and focus on the love that exists between you two! Don’t even worry about looking at the camera – just stop and take in how absolutely breathtaking your significant other looks. Just revel in the sparkle in her eyes and the way she bites her lip just slightly when she’s nervous. Allow yourself to be swept up in his strong arms, and feel comfortable when he wraps his hand around yours. Allow yourself to get a little lost in the moment; to care less about what you might look like and more about creating a fun memory together.
Don’t know what to do with your hands? Just put them on each other! Put them on her elbow, shoulder, neck, cheek, hair – even butt! Haha!
Point is, just get totally and utterly wrapped up in each other and have a fun time on this romantic date night! Pick the places that speak to you. Like for them and their urban setting choice, and just let me worry about the rest…
